Smash* it in!

Smash* what in?  Smash*, Smash*ing...  What on earth is it and how does it work?

K and Company made a scrapbooking type journal call Smash* and rolled out a style of scrapbooking called Smash*ing.  There are several different styles and themes of books. Here is K and Company's description of how to use your Smash* book:
Picture

"It's OK. Just Smash* it in.
There's always room, just like the junk drawer.
Nothing's right.  Nothing's  wrong.
It's all YOURS. We say glue in the  gladness.
A note, a "Quote". A thought to Jot.
A  snipping, a clipping, the idea that's caught.
A card, a regard, a tidbit, a smidgen.
A doodle of a poodle or the feather of a pigeon.
It's the smatterings of ordinary, extraordinary  life.
Messy and Beautiful"
Remember how grandma used to scrapbook?  She'd have some pictures, news articles, a wedding announcement, or a birthday card and she would tape or glue it in her scrapbook and then she'd journal about it?

Well that's all Smash*ing is.  You have pictures, receipts, brochers and ephemera from your life's adventures and you just put them in your Smash* book.  You add some stickers, tags, evelopes, journalling cards, clips, tape and  other fun embellishments to make the pages look super cute and then journal about the day or event.  Traditional  scrapbooking consists of layouts. Smash*ing is different in the way that it's  messier, random, layering and there are no rules.  It is not so neat and planned.  You can Smash* about things you like, your family, special occassions, vacations or everyday life.

This is my Smash* book that I am currently working on.  It's the yellow International themed book.

Here is one of my page layouts.  The pages are all interactive with flaps and tags and envelopes for journalling spots and more interest.

I love these next 3 pages. I did one on Michigan where I live and 2 on the city of Holland and the Tulip Time Festival they have every year.  We love going with our kids to the festival which celebrates dutch heritage.
