The first thing I did was to cut everything to size. I used 3 lunch size paper bags. When the bottom flap is folded up, it measures 5 1/8 inches by 7 1/8 inches.
I cut the cearal boxes and the Capri Sun boxes to 5 1/8 inches by 7 1/4 inches. I added 1/8 inches to the width to allow for the binding rings. One cereal box will get you 4 pages.
Next I ripped the printed paper off the Capri Sun box to expose the corrugation and gave it a coat of white paint.
I created a template for punching holes in each of the pages. The holes are placed 1/2 inch in from the edge and 1 inch from the top and bottom. I punched these one at a time, using my template. I used the largest size rings I could find to hold it together. Here's what it looks like with all the pages prepped.
I do hope you will leave me a comment and let me know what you think. If you've ever made a mini or a journal out of recycled materials, I'd love to see pictures and feature you on my blog. You can email me here.
