Card board boxes - these are great to use with rings, they are really sturdy and can easily be painted.
Heavy magazine covers or catalogue covers
Wall paper (my favorite) - it can also be painted.
Scraps of material or jeans - my next project.
Book covers from old books
I really like this method because you can move your pages around.
